Assignment 1.3-Bree Chinander

I like this picture because so much personality was captured. Each dog clearly has a different identity, and this picture is a candid representation that them together.

Assignment 1.3

I chose this image for a few reasons. The first is because it was taken by an incredibly talented young lady whom I have the extreme pleasure of calling my youngest sister. I also chose this photo because it is in black and white. I love the simplicity of black and white photographs. I feel they really make a person see the subject without the distraction of the colors around it. The clarity of this photo and the use of focus is absolutely phenomenal as well, you can even see the plants around it in the water droplet! Over all it's a beautiful photo and one of my favorites.

1.3

This is my family's dog we rescued a few years ago named Tod. He is a Blue Heeler and spends his days hanging out with the chickens and horses, and being protective of my mom. I love this picture so much because of his concentration on the piece of pizza I'm holding in front of him. Tod is a dog that is constantly being crazy and running around, but the piece of pizza made his world stand still for this picture I took, which is relatable because pizza is the best!

Madeline Cordes 1.3

This is one of my favorite photos because it creates a feeling of adventure and also shows someone sharing it.  It is an intimate look at adventure.

First Picture! Jessica Lindstrom

I chose this picture because I think people are the most fun to take pictures of and get them doing everyday things and being able to capture all kinds of different emotions and expressions that can make a lifetime memory.

tree

I chose this photo because I had a neat trip to Joshua tree national park and it was one of my favorites. I like it there, and trees.

Assignment 1.3

I enjoy this photo because the cat shows a lot of expression and reaction to the splash. I am fascinated by this photo because it must have been very difficult for the photographer to capture this exact instant in time! There are so many instants like the one that was captured in this photo that would be priceless to capture on film. I also love the interesting, beautiful shapes that liquids make when they splash.

Assignment 1.3

This is one of my favorite pictures that I took this summer. It is of my niece Sloane. I like this picture because when I look at it, I realize how good life is. That smile brightens the room every time and she is the happiest babies in the world. She is so photogenic and I absolutely love it! I captured this picture in the perfect moment and it just makes me happy.

Assignment 1.3

I remember seeing this photo for the first time and thinking that I wanted to be a dancer too. After that, I spent over 10 years in a dance studio. I love this photo because it shows the beauty that dance is in just a silhouette and shadow.

assignment one

I know most people are choosing others photos but I chose one that I took of myself and my best friend of many years. I love this picture because it was such a fun time in our lives where we were just enjoying the journey. It represents all my favorite things: my best friend, pure happiness, middle of summer, the river bottom, and a beautiful sunset. I will never forget taking this and it will forever put a smile on my face.

"Real" bird dog - assmt 1.3

I chose this photo, first, because I love animals and the stories that can be told by their personification and second, because this particular photo shows how editing can make a photo look "real".

Assignment 1.3

I chose this photo because I really enjoy Saul Leiter's work. He creates visual interest with light and form, and with the subtly of color. The way he captures people in motion in their everyday city life brings this energy to the photograph, making you feel 'there'. The way he captures the yellow truck passing by at just the right time, while the man is framed in the un-fogged part of the window is stunning. He also shows us how less can be more.

1992 Olympics

In 1992, an outstanding Olympic sprinter fell to his defeat. Halfway through the 400 meter dash Redmond tore his hamstring, but that didn't stop him from finishing. I choose this picture because it shows passion, determination and love. If you don't give up, you cannot fail.

Children of the World

Choosing this photograph was not a simple matter of like or dislike. It was something clicking within and driving me forward to take action... action against poverty, injustice, and cruelty of the world. It made me understand and see once again how different life can be for people.
This photo was taken by Steve McCurry  in Samarkand, Uzbekistan- in a city I've never been to but heard of, in a country I heard of and grew up in, and in a world I've known all my life but never understood. It's easy to forget that bad things happen if they're not happening to you or in front of you, just as it's easy to forget about the good things. That's why I like photographs which can remind us of those feelings.

Neil Armstrong Moon Landing

I like this photo because it helps capture the first time humans set foot on the moon. I also like this photo because there is a feel for what its like on the moon. I love photos that are one of a kind like this one, I hope someday I can take a photo that everyone recognizes many years down the road.

Elliott Erwitt
I like this photograph because every time I see it, it makes me smile. Erwitt has an amazing ability to use humor, perspective and composition to create images that evoke emotion, and capture the decisive moment. Take a look at some of his work :
