Assignment 1.3

This photo was taken near my hometown by a friend of mine who has his own studio. The reason that I like this photo is because it shows people how there are different types of natural beauty. Yes, it's a flat, snowy landscape, but to me, this is what home looks like.

This photo is called "A Railroad Artifact, 30th Street" by Joel Sternfeld. It shows a portion of New York City's High Line, a stretch of elevated railroad tracks that were shut down in the 1980s. I love this photograph because is shows the urban grit of the city being infiltrated by nature. It's sort of a clash between past and present and I find that very interesting.

Assignment 1.3

I first saw this image after watching a documentary about the photography of Ansel Adams. It's titled "Monolith, The Face of Half Dome." I picked this photograph because when I think of photography, this is usually the first image that comes to mind.  I think I came to appreciate the photograph more after watching the documentary, which went into great detail about the expertise Adams had when it came to composition and the developing of the film in order to create the final result.

This photograph was taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt. It really speaks volumes of just how momentous the news of victory over Japan was to the people in America. To me this photograph is a perfect snapshot of spontaneity and pure joy. This and the story behind the photograph are reasons it continues to be one of my favorites.

This photo is called "Get Showered" by Michael Theodric. I really enjoy this photo because it shows happiness and happiness is a good quality to go through life with. It also shows appreciation. I mean this in a way that these kids look underprivileged and they are appreciating the rain. I admire people that find the good in every situation.

I like this photo because it reminds me of home. I live in the Bahamas and I love to spend my free time on the beach.  This photo was taken from Harbour Island in the Bahamas. The sand is pink, the water is clear and beautiful.

This picture is taken from the National Geographic Traveler magazine. This particular photo is from a set of photos submitted for amazing destinations. I love this photo because I love to travel and experience new things, and this photo makes you feel like you're there. Also, I love all National Geographic pictures because they help you learn about a new place or their culture.
