I've always liked this candid photo of two strangers, a sailor and a woman, kissing in the middle of Times Square at the announcement of the end of the war on Japan. It was published as part of series of kissing photographs taken during this time in
Life Magazine. It is such an iconic photo showing the celebration of freedom.
